A valuable leader

Gloria knows that to be a mentor, and a counsellor, and to lead any group of people in the ways of discipleship; she is going to need to be stronger and wiser than the problems that will confront christian growth.

Valuable feet

Gloria's feet are used to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. She encourages friends, families and communities in following God's will, by showing all members that doing it God's way is the best way.

Valuing Christian principles

Gloria sticks to her principles, and she based these on the christian values she learnt from church and family, not on society's values. She believes that holiness is vital, that unselfishness is essential, that truth and honesty are fundamental, and that sexual purity is imperative.

The value of of perseverance

Gloria knows that her perseverance will allow God to complete His good work in her. So she embraces life's difficulties, continues to fight the good fight, and is prepared to suffer for doing good.
How does a believer develop Christian character

Jesus Christ promises a better character. Christian character is an extension of the human character, and it's achieved through the application of Christian values. Christian values can be read about in the New Testament, and we are encouraged and advised to follow them. So in addition to being respected and admired person for having good traits like being hard-working, reliable or caring; you can also demonstrate a divine ability to be generous, faithful and honest; to mention just a few common Christian character traits.

Obviously, Jesus Christ is the best and ideal person to imitate as a champion of Christian values. As followers of Jesus we can become more like Him when we value what He values, and think and act accordingly. As a Christian we will find that His character will become embedded in us, and we can find the same divine traits that we read about in scripture are being developed in us through the Spirit.

These godly character traits are the fruit that He promised us in John 15:5, if we abide in His vine: (love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.) 'Abide in His vine' is a strange analogy that means that we need Him to provide us with His character. All of the fruit of the Spirit and many more godly qualities can be cultivated to become a Christian’s character traits, when the believer habitually lives in faith to please God, aligned to the values that are important to the Son of God and how He lived. Jesus warned His disciples that it is by their fruit (their character) that you will recognise good or bad people. (Matthew 7) Our success as Christians depends on developing a strong Christian character.

While Jesus was here on Earth, He lived a life that was both pleasing to the Father and man; however don’t assume it was easy for Him or will be easy for us, because a Christian’s life isn’t always easy. The apostle Paul noted that Christians will experience difficulties in this world because of their different set of values; which are all dreived and enhanced by God's Spirit of love. ‘We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.’ (Romans 5:3-5 NIV)

With the love of God empowering us, we too can develop the character of Christ, with the help and work of the Spirit, as we consistently follow the tenets and values of the Christian faith, and habitually make His ways our ways.
